I meet with you and we:
take a detailed inventory of symptoms, your mental health/family/social histories
identify your target symptoms
determine your goals
customize your treatment plan — involving behavioral approaches and cautious use of medication when warranted
collaborate with your care partner if need be to tailor behavioral interventions to reduce stress.
It is recommended in some cases to have a trusted care partner to be present for appointments. Why? To ask important questions, seek guidance, take notes, and more importantly— to increase your chances of treatment success.
